Guide to Jamaicas best hotels
Jamaica boasts an extensive range of luxury hotels and here I give you the top five (in reverse order naturally) in hotel chic in 2008.
5) Hedonism II (Negril)
Overview – Hedonism II is very large resort and the options to create your own unique holiday are diverse. You can swim in the sea, walk on the beach or the gardens but if you are feeling really daring the hotel has its own nudist beach. The hotel is all inclusive, meaning that all food and drinks are included in the initial price and therefore once you arrive your wallet can stay away. Although only been regarded as a four star hotel, it still boasts a high price tag.
Location – Negril offers guests a wide range of tourist attractions and a chance to escape the hotel. It’s beach side location is ideal to catch the sunset and sunrise.
Activities – If you want to get active you can try one of the hotel’s fitness classes or tennis games. If you want to get out on the sea, the hotel provides a wide range of water sports. But if you want to relax try the spa, sauna or three pools.
Food – The hotel offers a wide range of cuisines including Japanese, Italian and Caribbean. Although if you want something different you can head into Negril and the restaurants there.
Children – Strictly Adults Only !
Room – Includes In room Jacuzzi, air conditioning and maid service.
4)Strawberry Hill (St. Andrew)
Overview – Strawberry Hill is included in the top five because it offers a completely different hotel experience because there are only 14 units. The small property offers a cozy holiday in a historical setting. Fodor’s recognizes Strawberry hill as one of the best hotels in the area.
Location – Strawberry Hill is set in a quiet mountainside with twelve Georgian style villas making up the resort. The local surrounding area boasts many historical and natural attractions.
Activites – Although small, this does not mean that Strawberry hill offers its guests any less. Tennis, golf and water ports are provided for small charges.
Food – The hotel offers two of its own restaurants. The library veranda and the bamboo room both offer international fusion cuisine in a formal setting. Some restaurants can also be found about a mile away from the hotel.
Children- The hotel does not provide for families and therefore traveling with children to Strawberry Hill may be difficult.
Room – Features TV/VCR, room service and radio.
