Interesting Snippets From The Las Vegas Strip
The three mile-long Las Vegas Strip, is not just any ole strip. This is the strip of neon lights and non-stop excitement. It is a clockless strip where time stands still and anytime is gambling time. This is the strip where dreams are made and sadly, dreams are broken even more often. Welcome to the Las Vegas Strip, witness to the largest number of rags-to-riches stories…and riches-to-rags stories as well.
So, how did it come to be named the Strip? Police captain, Guy MacAfee renamed this Los Angeles Highway The Strip after he saw the Flamingo, which brought back memories of the sophisticated clubs he had seen on the Sunset Strip. So the story goes…

LEYENDAS URBANAS DE LA TRADICION ORAL DE MEDELLIN
Emilio Alberto Restrepo Baena
No CommentsA New Breed of Investors are Checking Into Buy to Let Apart-hotels
Conceived in the USA back in the 1980s, the apart- or condo- hotel concept of marrying second homes with investing in property has now skipped across the Atlantic and matured to appeal to a new breed of investors. In the traditional buy-to-let role it’s the owner who has to put in the hard graft of attracting, vetting and possibly evicting tenants, not to mention collecting the rent and carrying out maintenance and ad-hoc repairs. Apart-hotels are now threatening to kick traditional buy-to-let where it hurts as one of its key selling points is that it’s managed and marketed on the investors’ behalf and therefore hassle-free.

No CommentsSummer travel destinations for great food
A nice place to get great food AND the beach, even if it is on the cold side, is Ogunquit in Maine. When our kids were younger, we used to go there because we found it less commercial than Old Orchard where there is mainly the boardwalk and other french people from Quebec. My husband and I preferred a quieter place with great food. It is not because you have young children that you can’t eat well. We started going to the restaurant with the kids even when they were young. They knew that they had to behave or we wouldn’t be going back. Since both our kids love food..they behaved!
We ate lobster rolls before it was the trend in Read the rest of this entry »

No CommentsPros and cons of renting a condo – Part 1
Some of my favorite memories growing up are centered around the annual week long Christmas vacation we used to take each year to our villa in the Poconos. I am the youngest of six children and our entire family would gather together throughout the week to share in the celebration. As our family grew with marriages and births, we eventually had to rent two villas. The fun times we had all together are the stories we still tell some twenty years later. Each sister-in-law preparing her most requested dish, huge family breakfasts served buffet style and dinners that we ate in shifts to accommodate the more than twenty people who may be there at any given time.
